Senior Care Consultations is founded by Laura Haverty. Laura is a Social Worker with over 10 years’ experience in Medical Social Work, working in various acute settings in Dublin, providing assessment, advice and guidance to patients and families on crisis management, care transitions and accessing community resources.

Laura is bringing her social work experience and skills to the private market via Senior Care Consultations. This is to allow individuals and families to access advice outside of the HSE system which can be overstretched and difficult to navigate.

HSE Fair Deal Scheme

Laura has worked in particular in the area of older persons care planning for over 6 years and has developed an in-depth knowledge of the HSE care system for older persons. Laura has a particular interest in helping clients and families apply for the HSE Fair Deal Scheme and navigating the transition to Nursing Home Care which can often feel overwhelming and stressful. Laura is happy to support and guide clients through the application process for the Fair Deal Scheme, while also providing the empathy and support clients need when making such a transition. Whether you are considering the Fair Deal Scheme in the future, or making an active application, Laura can offer guidance at any stage.

Time To Plan For The Future

Laura is an advocate for planning ahead and is passionate about assisting clients and their families to plan ahead for their future care so that when the time comes the journey to receiving increased support is smooth and the client’s needs are met.

At Senior Care Consultations, we operate a person centred approach, keeping the older person at the centre of the consultation, whether they are in a position to participate or not.

We can discuss your worries, questions, plans and hopes for your future care and suggest a plan which helps you to feel more in control of the decisions which will effect you later in life.

Mediation

Laura has vast experience in managing family dynamics, having difficult conversations, mediating differing opinions and chairing family meetings while also ensuring the older persons voice is represented and heard.

Laura understands the stress that loved ones, particularly those who are time-poor with their own families, can experience when trying to arrange, organise, navigate and understand the myriad of options available to arrange care for older persons.

The family mediation option employs Laura as the family meeting “Chairperson”, bringing an independent voice into a family who can moderate discussion, offer advice and guidance and aim to conclude with a plan. Online Consultations means that multiple family members can attend, ask questions, consider ideas together and reach a consensus. This also facilitates task delegation among family members rather than responsibility falling to one person which can feel overwhelming and unbalanced.

Your Care Plan

Laura offers time and space to ask questions and consider next steps, a one stop shop for devising a future care plan.

Laura remains as a CORU registered Social Worker and a member of the Irish Association of Social Workers. Laura continues to work in the HSE, while also bringing private social work consultations to the market via Senior Care Consultations.
